This 14" x 10.5" photograph shows the exterior view of the home of Edward and Carrie Blewett, located at 1217 Nye Avenue, Fremont, Nebraska. The two story brick residence, built in 1884, seems to suggest an eclectic style Victorian home with some loosely based Chateauesque influences. These details include the very tall and ornate chimneys, the iron cresting and finials on the roof, and the pyramid shaped hipped roof on the tower. The double belt courses which band the home and the canopied entrance door can also be traced to the Chateauesque style. The house also features stained glass windows and flat topped hood molds over the window tops. The brick structure sits on a masonry foundation which allows the use of tall basement windows. The lawn is well trimmed and some plantings can be seen near the structure.
