Color postcard (14 x 9 cm.) with a view entitled "Stinard Falls, Valentine, Neb." in the center of a white border area below the image. There is water dropping down from a rocky ledge creating a fall. There are trees visible above.
On the south side of the Niobrara River between the site of the old Fort Niobrara and the Allen Bridge are several beautiful water falls, most of which are to be found in small streams consisting of ground water from the Ogallala Aquifer that has surfaced creating small streams which flow into the Niobrara River. The first of these below the Fort east of Valentine is Stinard Falls which was named for David Stinard, a pioneer merchant who had a store on the highway between the Fort and the Berry Bridge.
