Wade Stevens and Dr. Frank Brewster stand by a biplane in a grassy field in this 9.5" x 7.5" black and white photograph. Both men are wearing flight suits and hats. Dr. Brewster's medical bag is lying on the ground between the two men.
The plane is a Curtis-Wright JN4D, commonly known as a "Jenny." The airplane, which cost $8,000, was shipped to Beaver City, Nebraska, in two large boxes, one holding the fuselage and the other holding the wing and tail sections. The plane was assembled in 1919 by Wade Stevens, who had been a pilot in World War I. The plane was an army training biplane with a 40-foot wingspan.
