The boy is dressed in a knee-length, loosely belted dress with long sleeves, wide collar, pantaloons, socks and ribbon-tied shoes, standing in an ornately-carved wooden chair. There is a teddy bear embroidered or painted on a tabbord hanging from his belt and a small suffed dog is sitting on the arm of the chair.

Historical Notes
Harold Eugene Burdick was born in Nebraska, September 22, 1905, the son of Dr. Harry and Bertha Agnes Burdick of David City. His father practiced medicine in David City for many years and his mother was superintendent of the hospital. Harold became a chemist and married Florence Smiley of Janesville, Wisconsin, August 27, 1931. Harold died November 10, 1992, in Durham, North Carolina.
