Historical Notes
Carrie Quade was born in Iowa in 1882 to William and Emma Holmberg Quade. Her father was a miller by trade who was born and married in Rhode Island, then moved his family to Dubuque, Iowa, and later to David City, Nebraska. Carrie performed at the Opera House in David City. She married Ray Harris and moved to San Diego, California, where Ray was the city attorney. They had one daughter, Ida. After the death of her first husband, Carrie married F.A. Stevenson and continued to live in California.
