In this 7-3/4" x 4-3/4" black and white photograph of the interior of Mrs. Tony's Cafe, a man leans against one of the display cases that run along the left side of the room. There are several shelves on the wall behind the display cases. There is a snack bar with stools along the right wall. The restaurant's wooden floor is empty in the front, but there are tables in the back of the room.
The cafe was located on the east side of Fairmont Avenue. In 1907, A.B. Tomasek purchased the Calumet Cafe and it became Mrs. Tony's. Later, it burned down, and Mrs. Tony moved the cafe to the west side of the street. Mrs. Tony's was in operation until the mid 1950's and was a popular place for teenagers. Many young girls also worked there.
