The recently completed five story Fremont National Bank building is the focus of this circa 1914 black and white photograph. Space on the first floor is also occupied by the Fidelity Pharmacy which is designated by the electric "Drugs" sign and the pharmacy name on the striped window awning. Acton's Piano House may be seen behind the building to the west while next door, to the north, is the 1890 Union Block which is being remodeled inside. This will soon be home to John S. Jackman's photography studio which will occupy the second floor. J.A. Ruwe's Piano Store may be glimpsed next to the Union Block. Traffic on the street is a mingling of horse drawn conveyances and motorized vehicles. Bicycles are parked against the walls of the bank and T. Higbee's dairy delivery cart is seen to the extreme right of the scene. Higbee's advertising promises "Pure Milk and Cream". According to the bank clock, this scene at 5th and Main Streets is at 11:30 a.m.
The Fidelity Tea Room is housed in the basement while upstairs office space is occupied by the firms which follow: Dr. Van Metre, physician; Dr. Rathbun, surgeon; Dr. J.K. Sewell, dentist; Dr. D.G. Golding, eye, ear, nose and throat; Doctor Overgaard; R.E. Dooley, dentist; G.B.
