Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fremont, Nebraska, 1925
Description
This image printed from a glass plate negative shows the newly constructed Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church at 401 East Military Avenue. The structure is dark brick accented at widely spaced intervals by rough faced white stone work. The ground level is divided from the second story by a belt line which is also in white. The building also features steep front and side gables, square bell towers with coping on their tops, and modified Gothic arches as windows. Arches located on the upper story of the bell towers are filled with lattice work. Note the cross mounted at the top of the north gable. The main entrance on the west side is reached by a concrete stairway. Sapling trees, concrete sidewalks, and brick paved streets give the scene a finished appearance. Two horse hitching posts in the foreground recall an earlier day.
