This 7.5"x 9.5" photograph shows the downstairs sunroom at The Elms, the home of Ray and Anna Nye, located at 1643 North Nye Avenue in Fremont, Nebraska. The paneled walls, ceilings, beams as well as the door and window trim are all enameled white. French doors lead to the dining rooms and the parlor. They still retain their puffed Roman shades but the walls are devoid of art work which was most likely removed by the Nye's in anticipation of the sale of their home. Visible furnishings are also enameled and include a three wheeled tea cart, reproduction Windsor chairs with a gate-legged table, an ornate plant stand, and a wooden based round fish aquarium. Wicker rocking chairs and an oval bench are upholstered with a floral print fabric. The tiled floors are covered with two oriental carpets. A small cast iron steam radiator is visible. The electric lighting fixtures are two, flat opalescent glass shades suspended from the ceiling by heavy metal chains. Natural lighting spills into the room from doors and windows on the south side.
