This 8 x 6 black and white photograph shows Willard Elementary School, formerly called West A Street School, which is a small wood frame one-story building with many windows. There are bare trees in front of the building, and there is snow on the ground.
This small frame school served the West A area from 1895 to 1916 and was located on Folsom near A Street. Its name was changed from West A Street School to Willard Elementary in 1915, three years before the brick Willard building was built. This frame building burned down in 1916 and the brick building was built in 1918 at 1245 S. Folsom Street. Willard Elementary School operated until 1969.
