Historical Notes
The "Nurses' Home" housed the superintendent and his family, the nurses and other employees. It was built in the 1890s and was part of the property acquired by the State to establish the hospital in 1911. In 1916, the superintendent requested funds to build separate housing for himself and his family due to the crowded conditions.
