Color postcard (13.5 cm x 8.5 cm) with a view of the Christoph Friedrich Schiller Monument and Linden tree, Riverview Park, 3625 South 10th Street, Omaha Nebraska. The monument is made of stone with a large bust on the top. The Linden tree behind has a wrought iron fence around it with a plaque. There are larger trees to the side.
The German American Society wanted to give something to Omaha and so this monument to Johan Christoph Friedrich Von Schiller (1759 - 1805), great German poet, philosopher, historian and dramatist was placed in Riverview Park. It was probably placed near to the 100th anniversary of Schiller's death. Boundaries of the park were Interstate 80, Riverview Blvd., and Grover Street on the north and east, Gifford Drive and railroad tracks on the south, and 10th Street on the east. In 1964, the park was leased to the Omaha Zoological Society as the site for Henry Doorly Zoo. The monument in now located at the German-American Society at 3717 S. 120th Street, Omaha, Nebraska.
