Some of the men are in light uniforms and some are in dark uniforms, one man has U of N printed on the front of his shirt, most wear striped socks. The third man from the left standing in the back row wears a suit. The third man from the right sitting in the middle row holds a football. Several of the men sport mustaches.
A University of Nebraska team first played football in 1890. In 1894, with a 7-2 season, the team won the conference championship. The man in the suit may be Frank Crawford, the first paid football coach (for the 1893 and 1894 seasons) at the University of Nebraska.
